What Did We Play Yesterday?

I just finished season 2 of Fallout and had that itch, so I tried to play Fallout 3 (crashed), then Fallout New Vegas (crashed), then I tried Fallout 76 and it was okay I guess but the Cooper cameo rubbed me the wrong way. Then I remembered I never finished my deep-dive the Outer Worlds playthrough with Corpo Esquire. I don't remember how to update my website so I'll just plop it here.

Reading my notes, I'd paid off Uton's debts and was fast-tracked to Byzantium to meet Anakane, Corpo's (future) girlfriend. She asks you to dispose of a cartographer, and what's interesting about this quest is the cartographer was asked to wipe Edgewater off the map. This is a "kill not" playthrough, so you can easily keep her AND the hired gun alive if you've got persuasion and sense. If you talk down the hired gun, you find him later in Billingsly drinking his sorrows. Very sad. There is a quest where you have to catch sprats with ridiculous names and backstories. I did indeed collect them.

Grabbed this farming creature collector mashup that's been languishing on my list for a while. It's very cute, but I went into it understanding it stretches itself a bit thin trying to do all the things. I mainly wanted to see if I could get into a creature collector.

Grabbed another of these chill cat hidden object games to play with kiddo. This one demands mapping the zoom function if you're playing on Steamdeck. There's a castle but I wasn't prepared for the cat-stlevania aspect so that was a surprise.

Decided to centralize the horsies and move the lower left quadrant apple farming area, which always felt cramped, next door. I'm trying to make sure food resources are close to the animals they feed.

Made the castle cooler. The bamboo area has always been a little cramped so I moved the house to free up some space and planted a lot more bamboo there, which was inspired partly by a quest needing way more bamboo than I actually had.

I still have a good number of lots to unlock, but the barrier is my farm level. So now I'm just filling up the space I have however I can.I experimented with having clusters of animals that would be a few of each type, because I never liked having like... a massive field of x pig or whatever... but that's really not enough livestock to level up and unlock additional species timely. I've begun to start stashing clusters of animals of one species stashed away in various nooks and crannies. I'd like to have a dedicated plot for each type of crop and animal, I just don't want to have lots of boring uniform boxes like it's some factory.

Well, I am officially back on my bullshit. Today I expanded and beautified my vineyard.

I belatedly realized there's an event in Farm Together 2, and now I'm sucked back into it. The timeline is a little tight on this one, so I had to grind at a megafarm to make sure I'd get the points.

Very excited for unicorns (and peacocks, an unrelated recent update). They provide much better diamonds compared to the fruit bat trees.

I finally got around to redesigning my castle layout and I'm much happier with it. The previous one was too cramped.

Playing around with various gameboy games.

Back when I was interested in the oldest examples of console roguelikes, I discovered this gameboy game. More recently, as I revisit the gameboy, I discovered it again. It offers four types of quests: killing enemies, collecting gold, freeing fairies, or collecting orbs. Part of the strategy is learning the enemy behavior patterns, but like many of these types of games avoiding enemies is generally the way to go. It works extremely well as a casual handheld game for short pick up and play sessions.

Still truckin' in Against the Storm, though I realize I should have cranked up the difficulty much sooner. I'm currently working on Veteran but I may need to dip into Viceroy soon.

I decided to give Ball X Pit another go, and I've done better this time focusing on area damage. I also recently unlocked buildings that allow the player to passively earn resources, which should help, but for the most part I'm still just bumbling along.

I've got a ridiculous amount of hours in this. I was a little slow on the uptake, and didn't start actively working toward repairing the seals (and thus permanently extending the storm cycle) until recently. The forward momentum has felt a little slow, but I think that may be because I was casually playing and not working towards the main goal.
