Super Mario Land

I decided to revisit this one in color, thanks to the Super Mario Land DX romhack.

This is one of the weaker Mario games, with slightly wonky controls and tiny sprites, and it turns into an unfortunate shooter at the end for no apparent reason, but it's a short game, forgiving in lives and checkpoints, and it's worth a visit just for the general weirdness (the UFOs and Egyptian tombs were my personal favorites) and the music.

I'm setting up a new handheld device, and I had an urge to play SML again, so here we are. I am generally not a nostalgia player but I do find occasion to return to this one and sometimes enjoy running through the first few levels for the heck of it. I've got the DX version of this, which is also fun, but I was in the mood for some Retrocheevs so OG it is.
